Smart Systems for the Process Industries
Presented by Jim Tung, MathWorks

How can you take advantage of new computing technologies to improve your products and services?  The proliferation of inexpensive sensors, wireless communications, big data and cloud infrastructure, machine and deep learning algorithms, and ever-faster high-performance computing platforms is ushering in a new era of intelligent and autonomous systems which include:

  • Self-driving cars
  • Smart industrial systems
  • Automated warehouses

These technologies give rise to a new type of industrial asset – the digital twin – that can be leveraged for a wide range of operational benefits, including:

  • Process optimization
  • Preventive maintenance
  • Fault detection
  • Model-based control
  • Dynamic pricing

In this talk Jim Tung will discuss how this confluence of technologies and assets will be increasingly transformative.

Facility Tour - MathWorks campus
An informal guided walk of the MathWorks campus will take place after the meeting, for anyone who is interested.
